An Elegant Intellectual Construction

All this beautiful war talk –  when all along this Elegant Intellectual Construction of the idea of “Just War” can only survive if a vital part of the equation is simply unacknowledged: No one ever speaks of the brutal destruction of civilian lives in this debate – because it might, you know, tarnish the blinding shine and ruin the war for everyone.
I’m pretty sure our profound ability to so completely discount the reality of those who are caught up in war through no fault of their own is a powerful indicator that our thought process (eg: fight them over there) on this subject is very, very wrong.
The intellectual satisfaction we’re seeing should be another red flag of warning – we’ve been down this road  many times before.
Ignoring civilian casualties ensures the debate always takes place in a moral vacuum.
